About pharmacy duty rosters

How does the pharmacy duty roster system work in Cyprus?

In Cyprus, specific pharmacies are designated as on duty each day, per district. They stay open outside normal hours: on weekdays from 13:30 to 16:00 and from 19:30 to 23:00, and on Wednesdays and Saturdays continuously from 13:30 to 23:00.

On Sundays and public holidays, on-duty pharmacies operate from 08:00 in the morning until 23:00 at night.

The roster is compiled by the Pharmacy Board together with the Cyprus Pharmaceutical Association and is published by the Pharmaceutical Services of the Ministry of Health. This app updates automatically from that official publication.

What should I do at night, after 23:00?

After 23:00 on-duty pharmacies close their doors, but the pharmacist must remain available until 08:00 to dispense prescriptions. Every on-duty pharmacy displays a lit sign in its window with the phone number to call.

What should visitors and tourists know?

Most pharmacists speak English. Many common medicines are available over the counter, but foreign prescriptions may not be accepted for prescription-only medicines — you may need a prescription from a doctor in Cyprus.

This app covers the areas controlled by the Republic of Cyprus: Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca, Paphos and the free Famagusta area (Paralimni, Ayia Napa).
