An on-duty pharmacy (διημερεύον φαρμακείο) is a pharmacy legally designated to stay open outside normal business hours on a given day, so at least one pharmacy is reachable at all times in each district. The roster rotates daily among registered pharmacies and is set by the Cyprus Pharmacy Board together with the Cyprus Pharmaceutical Association.
On weekdays, duty pharmacies open from 13:30 to 16:00 and again from 19:30 to 23:00. On Wednesdays and Saturdays they stay open continuously from 13:30 to 23:00, and on Sundays and public holidays from 08:00 to 23:00. After 23:00 the pharmacy is closed but the pharmacist remains reachable by phone until 08:00 for prescriptions.
The list is regenerated automatically from the official Ministry of Health publication. We re-check the source twice a day (early morning and around midday) to catch any last-minute corrections. Duty schedules themselves are published by the Ministry roughly every two months, several weeks in advance.
Duty schedules can change at short notice due to unforeseen circumstances. Call the pharmacy's phone number before travelling to confirm, and in a medical emergency call 112.
The underlying data comes directly from the official publication of the Pharmaceutical Services, Cyprus Ministry of Health. This site is an independent, unofficial tool that presents that public data more conveniently — it is not run by the Ministry of Health.
No, there are no permanent 24-hour pharmacies in Cyprus. Instead there's a duty roster: one or more pharmacies per district take turns being on duty each day, with fixed hours. After 23:00 and until 08:00, the on-duty pharmacist dispenses urgent prescriptions by phone.
On Sundays and public holidays, duty pharmacies stay open continuously from 08:00 to 23:00, without the weekday midday break. Use the "Today / Tomorrow" switcher above to see which pharmacies are on duty today or tomorrow.
